Bloomer Girls
Before the famous league of there own, women were playing in me minot baseball leagues. These women and girls were called the bloomer girls. -
Women's Sports Foundation
The women's sports foundation was started by Billie Jean King. She did this after winning the tennis match called "the battle of the sexes." She beat Bobby Riggs in this match. -
World Cup
In 1991 the first women's world cup was competed for. The united states were the winner. -
Future Fairness
Starting in 1991 a major change was added to adding new sports to the olympics. This rule change made it so that any sport added to the olympics would have an equivalent female sport. -
Professional Basketball
In 1996, the same year as many other accomplishments, both the female basketball leagues. Both the WNBA and the ALB were started. -
Almost Equality
For the first time in history, every country that participated had at least one female athlete. There were a total of 4,847 women competing.
