    Brown v. Board of Education
    Brown v. Board of Education ruled that segregation in schools is unconstitutional and not equal. Five cases had filed lawsuits against school districts to prevent segregation.   • ESEA

    ESEA
    The Elementary and Secondary Education Act helped families from low-income homes gain a means of approaching a higher-quality education. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed it into law on April 11, 1965. The act provides money from the government to aid schools in teaching children from primary to secondary school. The money from the government allows the schools to train and hire teachers and get parents involved in the children's education.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Act (VRA)

    Vocational Rehabilitation Act (VRA)
    The act made it illegal to discriminate against an individual with a disability. The law helps people with disabilities find and keep jobs. The VRA allows the disabled to have the same workforce experience as others.
  • EAHCA

    EAHCA
    The Education for All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA) made it possible for any child, no matter their disability, to have a right to learn and get an education. The act is also known as the Mainstreaming Law. It was later renamed the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
  • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Board of Education v. Rowley
    This case was centered around a deaf fifth grader named Amy Rowley. While she was deaf, she was achieving higher than her typical peers. Her parents wanted the school to provide a sign language interpreter. However, the school couldn't do that.     Assistive Technology Initiative
    The Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act, also known as the Tech Act, allows students with disabilities to access technology. This act enables disabled students to get support and to make their lives easier.
  • IDEA

    IDEA
    EAHCA was renamed and replaced with IDEA. Although there are two versions of this act, the one being focused on is Public Law 101-336. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act focuses on aiding disabled children with special education and support services in following along with their peers.
  • No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)

    No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB)
    NCLB, or the No Child Left Behind Act, was a law that required all schools to ensure that all students were learning at an even pace. Schools that did not comply could face consequences. The act focused heavily on testing to determine how well students did in each subject, such as reading and math.

    IDEIA
    The Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act allows schools to aid children with disabilities. It helps them provide special education and other support services to help them do their best in school. These support services allow students with disabilities to have the same experience of education as their peers.

    This law makes sure that every student has a chance to do their best in school. This law allows the states to measure their student's performance rate in each subject. This law also enables support, especially for students needing extra help.
